Ballerina Tutu Seminar

A seminar on ballerina tutu construction was held at the Fashion Design Academy in Tampa in April 2024. This course was 5 weeks long and was taught by Irma Luqueño from Sasha's Elegant Dancewear. In this course, Luqueño went through the techniques and materials needed to create the bodice and skirt for a ballerina tutu.
For this tutu, the bodice is made from cotton canvas, pink polyester satin, and a silver-flecked mesh. The lace and embroidery were stitched on by machine after being trimmed from an embroidered mesh. The skirt was created by panels of tulle gathered by machine and stitched onto a mesh panty. The closures are heavy-duty hooks and eyes.
