2024 Mini-Collection
Project Type
Fashion Collection
First Presented
June 2024
This is my second collection with Fashion Design Academy and consists of 4 unique outfits. The requirements for this collection were 3 look minimum and because of my current course, include a suiting element. The inspiration behind this collection was pearls and pleating, two design details I became obsessed with. The suit jackets were constructed mainly by Enrique Garcia due to a time crunch. The other pieces were mostly or entirely sewn by myself.
Look 1: the blue dress has a corset constructed similarly to a ballerina tutu's bodice, with the addition of rigilene boning. The bodice has a duck canvas corset with a Peau de Soie satin outer layer. The skirt is a separate piece and is made from an accordion-pleated chiffon. The wings on the hips are made from foam and rigilene boning and are adorned with beaded wire flowers. The closure is an invisible zipper on the side of the dress and a button waistband for the skirt. There is a snap at the neck.
Look 2: the white jumpsuit has a duck canvas corset with rigilene boning. The outer fabric is Peau de Soie satin and has accordion-pleated chiffon curtains. The wings on the hips are made as in Look 1. The closure is an invisible zipper on the back of the jumpsuit and hook and eye tape on the corset.
Look 3: the men's suit is made from Hillshire polyester suiting. The trouser has wide pleats on only the front side.
Look 4: The blazer is made from Hillshire polyester suiting. The dress is made in the same fashion as the blue dress from Look 1, sans the closure. The skirt and bodice are attached and only have a singular invisible zipper on the side of the bodice and a snap at the neck.
